FOMC Prop Research: Separate the Decision, Conference and Minutes

A central-bank meeting can generate several documents and events. They share a meeting relationship but do not share one publication instant. Preserve the original information set before relating the event to a trading journal.

Create one record for each publication

The Federal Reserve calendar links meeting statements, press conferences and minutes separately. It states that minutes of regularly scheduled meetings are released three weeks after the policy decision. The actual meeting page and release records remain the sources for a particular event.

Use the meeting identifier as a parent, then give each document its own type, source and publication time. A calendar entry, actual publication and saved capture time answer different questions. Do not copy the conference time into the statement row.

Work a fictional information timeline

In a teaching example, a decision appears at 14:00 Eastern and a conference begins at 14:30. At a 14:10 observation, the saved decision can be part of the information set; the later conference cannot. A later minutes publication belongs in another row with its own date.

These example times illustrate chronology rather than announce a current schedule. A full timestamp needs the date and offset. An undated Eastern label should not be converted with one fixed offset across the whole year.

Preserve account evidence beside the research

This site’s previous meeting-document resource remains the companion for identifiers. A researcher can revise a thesis after the conference while preserving the original version. Replacing the earlier thesis would introduce later information into the original decision record.

HashHedge news and account conditions require their own current review; an event calendar grants no method permission. The optional sponsored link offers programme information. No release forecast, trade instruction or evaluation result is supplied by the fictional timeline.
